4:11 那時，必有話對這百姓和耶路撒冷說：「有一陣熱風從曠野淨光的高處向我的眾民（原文是民女）颳來，不是為簸揚，也不是為揚淨。
4:12 必有一陣更大的風從這些地方為我颳來；現在我又必發出判語，攻擊他們。」
4:13 看哪，仇敵必如雲上來；他的戰車如旋風，他的馬匹比鷹更快。我們有禍了！我們敗落了！
4:14 耶路撒冷啊，你當洗去心中的惡，使你可以得救。惡念存在你心裡要到幾時呢？
4:15 有聲音從但傳揚，從以法蓮山報禍患。
4:16 你們當傳給列國，報告攻擊耶路撒冷的事說：有探望的人從遠方來到，向猶大的城邑大聲吶喊。
4:17 他們周圍攻擊耶路撒冷，好像看守田園的，因為她背叛了我。這是耶和華說的。
4:18 你的行動，你的作為，招惹這事；這是你罪惡的結果，實在是苦，是害及你心了！
At that time it will be said to this people
and to Jerusalem, “A hot wind from the bare heights in the desert toward the
daughter of my people, not to winnow or cleanse, a wind too full for this comes for me. Now it
is I who speak in judgment upon them.”
Behold, he comes up like clouds;
his chariots like the whirlwind;
his horses are swifter than eagles—
woe to us, for we are ruined!
O
Jerusalem, wash your heart from evil,
that you may be saved.
How long shall your wicked thoughts
lodge within you?
For
a voice declares from Dan
and proclaims trouble from Mount Ephraim.
Warn the nations that he is coming;
announce to Jerusalem,
“Besiegers come from a distant land;
they shout against the cities of Judah.
Like keepers of a field are they against her all around,
because she has rebelled against me,
declares the Lord.
Your ways and your deeds
have brought this upon you.
This is your doom, and it is bitter;
it has reached your very heart.”

先知在此說明以色列和由大會造受到外敵的侵入而幾乎要滅亡的原因是來自於他們犯罪，因為他們離開上帝，在各大小山岡的山上敬拜迦南地的別神，並為這些偶像設立邱壇。
其實我們的生命會有許多的破口與虧損，也是來自我們的罪！雖然主已經使我們不用為罪的緣故受到永遠的刑罰。但是，罪惡帶給我們生活的影響力仍然是在發生，使我們面對到這些失敗，體會出我們的軟弱，進而產生敬畏上帝的心！
我們要勇敢來面對這些軟弱，更要求上帝使我們在這樣的時候，不要忘記耶穌督已經得勝了，我們也與他同得勝了！但是，我們更要為自己的失敗來求主給我們勇氣承認，並仰望主的勝利來向自己的軟弱誇勝，不要被罪惡打敗！
